There is a specific moment at the end of the day when Madeira truly shows its magic, and you won’t find it from the balcony of a crowded resort. This private, half-day expedition is all about slow rhythms, hidden corners, and chasing the most spectacular sunset the Atlantic has to offer. We slip away from Funchal just as the afternoon light begins to soften, trading the busy tourist routes for the open-air freedom of our Land Rover. We will take you deep into the dramatic landscapes of the southwest coast, navigating paths that feel completely cut off from the rest of the world. It is a journey designed to make you stop, breathe, and connect with the raw, untamed soul of the island.
The absolute climax of the evening happens far away from the public viewpoints. We have exclusive access to a stunning secret spot on a piece of private property, high above the rugged coastline. Here, with a chilled glass of wine in your hand and your favorite people by your side, you can gently sway on a rustic swing as the sun drops straight into the deep blue of the ocean. The sky catches fire in shades of amber and gold, and for a moment, time just stands still. Because we keep this experience strictly private and numbers are tightly limited, our evening slots fill up incredibly fast. Itinerary
Our adventure begins with a personal pickup from your accommodation exactly two hours before the sun dips below the horizon. We set off immediately toward the southwest, leaving the city behind as we wind through the dramatic mountain passes and lush valleys that locals call the "Heart of the Island." Along the way, we will roar right through the famous Cascata dos Anjos - the legendary Angels' Waterfall - where the mountain stream crashes directly onto the old coastal road, giving our Land Rover a spectacular, unforgettable wash.
From the waterfall, we shift into four-wheel drive and head up to our exclusive, private property hidden high on the cliffs. This is where the real magic happens. We will set up a beautiful evening spread for you featuring a chilled bottle of white or rosé wine and fresh, cold grapes—or if you've booked it in advance, a premium cheese and wine platter or a full private dinner. You can spend the final hours of the day relaxing on our rustic cliffside swing, watching the twilight symphony play out as the sun disappears into the endless Atlantic, before we take a smooth, starlit drive back to Funchal.
